You can change your shop’s fonts and colors without any code using the Style settings in Shop Designer. You can also apply a Style Preset to instantly update your fonts and colors together—perfect if you haven’t landed on your brand’s signature colors yet.
Style Presets
Style Presets are curated font-and-color combinations built into each template. Each template includes 5 presets with different aesthetics—Classic, Bold, Playful, Earthy, and Dreamy, each with multiple color variants.
To apply a Style Preset:
- Open Shop Designer → Settings tab.
- Find the Style and select Change current style.
- Browse the preset options. Select one to preview it on your shop.
- When you find the color and font preset you like, you can click out of the preset styles, and move on to other design settings
- Click Done, then Publish.
Applying a preset changes your fonts and colors at once. You can still adjust individual colors and fonts after applying a preset.
Changing colors
You can use with a preset color palette as-is, start with a preset and customize the individual design elements (like font color), or fully customize your colors by individually editing the each of the default color selections.
Choose and customize your Color Palette
- Open Shop Designer → Settings.
- Under Style, select Color palette.
- Select the color you want to change.
- Use the color controls to choose a shade, or enter a hex color code to match a specific color.
- Select the X to close the color picker and see the change in your shop preview.
- Continue through the other colors in your palette until everything looks right.
- Check your shop on both desktop and mobile to make sure your text is easy to read against your background colors.
- When you're happy with your changes, click Publish to make them live.
Tip: Keep an eye on the preview as you work. It updates as you change your palette, so you can see how your colors work together before publishing.
Changing fonts
- Open Shop Designer → Settings tab.
- Find the Font section.
- Select a font using the dropdown menu for the options your template allows.
- Preview changes in the preview panel.
- When ready, click Done, then Publish.
Available fonts: Big Cartel includes a set of fonts with each template.
Font and color settings are connected to your template
Font and color options may vary slightly between templates. If you switch templates, you may need to reapply your color choices or select a new preset. Style Presets are also template-specific.
How you’ll know it worked
Your preview updates in real time as you make changes. Confirm that fonts and colors are displaying as expected on both desktop and mobile before publishing.
